Umbro has today announced that Red Roses stars Zoe Harrison, Shaunagh Brown and Sarah Bern are to become the English sports brands’ first rugby ambassadors, as it continues to cement its reintroduction into the sport.
The trio, who have been named in the squad to take on Italy for England’s final Women’s Six Nations fixture, will wear the new England Rugby kit produced by Umbro; the Official Technical Kit Partner to England Rugby.
As ambassadors for the brand, Harrison, Brown and Bern will also work with Umbro to showcase the range of performance clothing the brand is renowned for developing; beyond its association with the international rugby side.
Umbro recently announced an England Rugby Head Coach, Eddie Jones, as an ambassador to complement its partnership with the national side, and Premiership Rugby team Bristol Bears. The addition of Harrison, Brown and Bern is an important move for Umbro as it looks to deepen its support of rugby in all areas and giving the Women’s and Men’s game an equal platform to reach new audiences.
Zoe Harrison, Red Roses Fly-Half commented: “Umbro is a globally recognisable brand, bringing new ways of thinking and doing to rugby, and to be working with them to play a part in raising the profile of women’s rugby is truly exciting, and something I can’t wait to get started on.”
England Forward, Shaunagh Brown, added: “Umbro has made a hugely positive statement, through its support of rugby on and off the pitch. The brand is bringing its wealth of experience from multiple sports, back into rugby, so to join them on that journey is a proud moment for me.”
Sarah Bern, England and Bristol Bears front row, commented: “Umbro are making a real impact across rugby, at a national and club level. Now on a personal level, to join the brand as an ambassador is fantastic, and am looking forward to an exciting relationship with a proud English brand.”
Scott Watson, Umbro Rugby Sponsorship Manager, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Sarah, Shaunagh, and Zoe to Umbro. This is an exciting step as we continue to grow our footprint in rugby across both the men’s and women’s games.
“We are looking forward to working together to showcase Umbro’s wide range of performance clothing and use their expertise and knowledge to ensure that our products meet the demands and requirements of the modern game.”
With nearly one hundred years of experience in the development of performance products for elite teams, Umbro has a heritage across sports, including football, rugby and motorsports. Through its extensive experience, combined with a pioneering approach to the development of its kit, Umbro has ensured its products are tried and tested and ready for rugby.
